PKC is a protein encoded by the PRKCA gene which is approximately 76,7 kDa. PKC is localised to the cytoplasm and cell membrane. It is involved in RET signalling, DAG and IP3 signalling, the IL-2 Pathway, fMLP pathway and CDK-mediated phosphorylation and removal of Cdc6. It is a family of serine- and threonine-specific protein kinases that can be activated by calcium and the second messenger diacylglycerol. It plays a role in many different cellular processes, such as cell adhesion, cell transformation, cell cycle checkpoint, and cell volume control. PKC is expressed in the liver, blood, nervous system, skin and pancreas. Mutations in the PRKCA gene may result in glioma and myotonic dystrophy. STJ95117 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of PKC protein.
